The "Stainless Steel Apartment", is breathtaking in its use of light and materials to create a piece of art. The centerpiece is its stainless steel cantilevered staircase which creates the impression of descending right to the lake below. The architects use sculptural elements of smoked glass, steel, terrazzo, and wood to divide and connect the three bedrooms with the magnificent open spaces and floor to ceiling views of the lake and the city. While being true to Mies van der Rohe's goals of simplicity and minimalism, Krueck+Sexton have made sure that every design element has both an aesthetic and a practical function, every vertical surface beautifully and cleverly conceals your storage.
