Welcome to Lakeview
Popular amongst art buffs as well as sports lovers, Lakeview is the popular northern Chicago neighborhood that has been attracting many residents for a long time. With smaller neighborhoods like Wrigleyville, West Lakeview, and Lakeview East, the area is home to historic Wrigley Field, the oldest stadium in Major League Baseball (Lakeview area). One of the biggest attractions of Lakeview is Boystown, the official gay village, offering the best of Chicago’s nightlife.
History of the City
Lakeview got incorporated in Chicago in 1889. Before that, it used to be a camping ground with trail paths for Native Americans. The first settlers of the area were Swiss Immigrants who arrived in 1837. Soon they were followed by other immigrants from Europe.
This place is the house of 100,000 Chicagoans with LGBT-friendly enclaves and art and sports in mind. The Caucasian population consists of largely Afro-American and Hispanic communities with well-educated people. The mid-rise apartments and condos offer modern upscale living.
Wrigleyville Stadium and Boystown are the two most popular attractions in Lakeview. Apart from that Lincoln Park and Belmont Theater District that houses around 20 theaters are very popular along with the stadiums, clubs, bars, and parks.
